Happy March everyone!

This month has been a big one for our community—The Open School now has a permanent home! We officially purchased our own campus, and our Renovation Committee has already begun meeting to plan how to transform it into an incredible space for learning, play, and community. On February 22, committee members walked through the new campus to start brainstorming ideas and this weekend they will be having their very first work day! We can’t wait until the day we can move in!

February was full of opportunities to connect and learn. We celebrated Valentine’s Day with a festive party, and Millie the baby goat made a special visit, bringing plenty of smiles. Our high schoolers gathered for a peer meeting on motivation—exploring where it comes from and how to build lasting habits without relying on fleeting bursts of inspiration. Meanwhile, the Adventure Cohort of our Diploma Program continued their ongoing discussions. To top it all off, we hosted a lively baking competition, filling the school with delicious smells and friendly rivalry.

Classes continued strong, with students diving into Pre-Algebra (taught by one of our own!), Biology, Physics, and Math. We also kept up with our daily chore time and food trolley, ensuring our space stays organized and there is always something yummy to eat. Out in the world, students took part in Monday walks and attended a powerful performance of The Diary of Anne Frank.

Families also had their own special moments this month. Parents gathered for our monthly Parent Circle on February 20, and later in the month, they got a well-earned night out at an escape room. Parents also continue to enrich our community with offerings in ASL, gardening, and permaculture.

February was packed with growth, fun, and community, and we can’t wait to see what March brings!
